Ciao is Alpha Robotics' humanoid welcome robot, and the model in its reception line that works most through gesture. It stands 1,600 mm tall, the tallest of Alpha's reception robots, with a long, gown-like body over a wheeled base. Its arms and hands give it 8 degrees of freedom, which it uses to make greeting gestures, point out directions and wave visitors goodbye, while its face smiles, blinks and nods and keeps eye contact during a conversation.

Ciao greets people as they arrive without waiting for a wake word, using greetings you set. It recognises more than 50 languages and 20 dialects and switches to the language a visitor speaks. In an exhibition hall it plans a tour route from a spoken request, presents the exhibits and answers questions on the way, steering round people and objects with LiDAR and several other sensors.

Alpha aims Ciao at company lobbies, exhibition halls and pavilions, public service, education and retail, and presents it as a brand ambassador. That shows in the hardware: its 10.1-inch HD screen is the smallest in the range, where Alice, Snow and Timo carry 13.3-inch panels, and the robot's movement does more of the work. It is also the quickest to recharge, taking 1.5 hours against 3–4 hours for the other models, and runs 8 hours or more on its 12.9 Ah battery.
